Clun Forest ‘preservation wrap'
August 22, 2016
A few weeks ago I was approached by Margaret from Antrim Weaving in the USA for some Clun Forest yarn for her to use in her ‘preservation wrap’ project. She is passionate about our native UK sheep breeds and had been trying to locate some Clun Forest wool for a number of years. Imagine how pleased she was when she was able to source it from a flock of Cluns that originated in the heart of the Clun Forest in South Shropshire, our ‘Travelly’ flock. Although we are now based in Powys, just over the border from Shropshire, we brought all our sheep with us to the new farm and they have adapted very well to the lovely Black Mountain air.
You can see from the photos above that the wrap is absolutely gorgeous and Margaret is happy for me to share the photos with you.
This rather special wool is available in the shop. Aran weight, great for knitting into sturdy jumpers, socks, hats and gloves, as well as for weaving.
