New lambs at Pen Y Caeau Farm
March 27, 2017
I’ve been busy, honest - and to prove it here are some of the beautiful Zwartbles lambs which have been born on our farm since I last posted. The weather has been mostly kind, just with a smattering of snow showers. It did look lovely on the mountaintops for a couple of days but on the lower slopes of Pen Tir at Pen Y Caeau Farm we were spared the inconvenience of life in the snow.
It’s the annual WI Fair at Alexandra Palace, London this week and I’ve been asked to supply some samples for Make it in Wales, an upmarket provider of courses in handicrafts based in West Wales. My samples of scarves and throws have arrived safely and I hope the London visitors like them. I really love weaving with woollen spun yarn from our Clun Forest sheep - it’s so light and warm.
The Clun Forest and cross bred sheep will start lambing at the end of this week. I hope I’m feeling better by then - I have had a rare day in bed today with a flu-like illness. I’m also teaching a class tomorrow, so hopefully a good night’s sleep tonight will cure me!
