Welsh Flannel Quilt
September 23, 2016
Autumn is the season when I have a little time on my hands to indulge in a craft course or two to broaden my horizons and just take time out from the hectic pace of life running a business. Two weekends ago I spent a lovely couple of days at the National Wool Museum in Drefach Felindre, West Wales, learning how to make a traditional Welsh pieced quilt, along with how to do some hand stitching using patterns which go back centuries. The course was run by Make It in Wales http://www.makeitinwales.co.uk. I have now finished the piece, which measures 80cms across and when my new studio is finished it will adorn one of the walls as a display item. I’m already thinking about weaving more woollen fabric with the Clun Forest yarn that I had processed earlier this year and any samples I make will surely find their way into future quilts!
