General information

Day workshop times are 10am to 4.30pm. All materials, tools and equipment are provided.  Morning and afternoon refreshments are included but please bring a packed lunch.  If you prefer you may go down to the tea rooms in Cwmdu where you will find delicious lunches served.

Half day workshop times are 10am to 1pm or 2pm to 5pm.

Group tuition cost varies depending on the workshop. Individual tuition:  £28 per hour.

If you would like to attend a workshop or have individual tuition but cannot make the advertised dates, please contact me and we can make alternative arrangements.

Level 1 Hand Spinning (accredited) 2 day course

£335 max 8 people - gain a nationally recognised certificate in hand spinning wool with a spinning wheel. Two days of tuition plus follow up support and all learning and assessment materials.

£80 max 4 people – learn the basics, from choosing a fleece to plying your handspun yarn.

£80 max 4 people – demystify the art of spinning. Learn how to influence the end result, experiment with different fleece types.

Fibre preparation
£80 max 4 people – experiment with longwool, down and hill breeds and others. Prepare them for worsted or woolen spinning using the right tools. Up to 10 different fleeces to sample and learn from.

Exotic fibres
£80 max 4 people – new and exotic fibres to try such as yak, bamboo, rose fibre, Kevlar, cotton, flax, cashmere, alpaca and more. Spin samples to inspire your spinning journey.

Level 3 Hand Spinning (accredited) nine month course

£1550 max 8 people - gain a nationally recognised certificate in hand spinning at Level 3 (A Level standard). Six days of tuition over nine months plus private study.  Full support and all learning and assessment materials.

Rigid heddle loom     Beginners
£80 max 6 people – quick and easy to warp and by the end of the day you will have woven a lovely scarf, runner or mat in your chosen colours. Great fun!

Rigid heddle loom     Next steps
£80 max 6 people – the next steps with the rigid heddle loom.  

Option 1 covers finger manipulated weaves for texture and lace effects.

Option 2 covers warp and weft floats using a pick up stick enabling you to weave patterns similar to those achieved on a shaft loom.

Animal Husbandry

Keeping Sheep

£95  max 6 people - all the basics of keeping sheep including plenty of practical, hands on experience guided by experienced shepherds Brian and Dunja.  Comprehensive course handouts provided.

Lambing 24 

£175 (includes accommodation and full board) max 4 people - a 24 hour course which runs from 12 noon to 12 noon.  Care of ewes and their lambs, with lots of practical experience in the lambing shed including assisting at lambing (dependent on the ewes).  A truly immersive course.  Comprehensive course handouts provided.
